This is the first painting I did for this collection of paintings dedicated to the Laguna de Santa Rosa. I had visited the property, and couldn’t shake the feeling that the palm trees just didn’t mesh with what I had thought would be vegetation in a laguna. Palm trees seemed so “Florida” to me. I couldn’t uproot them from the scene, so I painted the house to reflect a South Beach vibe instead.
